Bio
David Ramshaw, MD, FACS is a Board Certified General Surgeon and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Ramshaw is a native Floridian who graduated from the University of Florida College of Medicine, and completed his surgical residency in Wilmington, North Carolina at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He moved to Daytona Beach in 1996 where he began his practice in surgery with Surgical Associates of Volusia, now North Florida Surgeons, Volusia Division. He is an active faculty member for the University of Florida College of Medicine. He is comfortable and confident performing a broad variety of general surgical procedures of all the organs in the abdomen.
He has a special interest in caring for patients with breast cancer (participating in a multidisciplinary conference on a weekly basis), hernias of the abdominal wall (ventral, umbilical, incisional, inguinal, lumbar) and diaphragm (hiatal hernia), and patients who have reflux disease who would benefit from laparoscopic procedures including Nissen fundoplication and the LINX procedure. He takes special care of all of his patients, trying to take all the time each patient and their family needs to understand what is happening, what options there are to proceed with care, and creating a team environment to help facilitate the best possible outcome.
